Expanded Matchmaking is an optional feature that enables you find a match against opponents on the Tower more quickly.
When activated, the system will first look for an opponent at your selected level, but if one isn’t available, it will start searching lower levels, down to the “Matchmaking Minimum” level which you have defined in your Expanded Matchmaking preferences.
For example, if you search for a game at the 512 Token level, and define Matchmaking Minimum to be 16 Tokens, the system will first look for any opponent at the 512 Token level, and then, if no opponent is available, it will start searching for available opponents at all levels below 512 Tokens all the way down to your minimum of 16 and then pair you with the first appropriate opponent. If you are matched at a lower level, the entry fee required to play at the select level will be adjusted down.
If you wish to restrict matchmaking to only a specific level, you can simply turn off "Expanded Matchmaking" in the Settings area of the app. With the feature turned off, if you look for a game at the 128 Token level, the system will wait as long as it takes for an opponent to become available and match at that level.
The Expanded Matchmaking feature can be accessed and changed in the app at any point either…
- In the Settings area (accessed by tapping Settings in the upper right corner); or
- In the Matchmaking screen when looking for a Live Tower game. Simple select any level on the tower, which takes you to the matchmaking screen where you may tap the cog icon on the bottom-right of the screen.
Your current Expanded Matchmaking preferences will always be visible in the Matchmaking screen when searching for a Live Tower game.
